Sport: PNG Hunters target return to winning ways

6:40 am on 29 March 2014

The Papua New Guinea Hunters are looking to bounce back with immediate effect in tomorrow's Queensland Cup round five clash away to the Easts Tigers.

After three straight wins, the Hunters suffered their first defeat last weekend against the Northern Pride in Kokopo.

The Tigers were narrow losers away to the Redcliffe Dolphins last week, a team PNG beat in the opening week.

Hunters coach Michael Marum says the team, which features the return of Kumuls halfback Roger Laka, is looking forward to getting back on the field.

"We know it's going to be another tough game against the Easts Tigers but that's how the competition is - you need to be prepared week in week out whether you're playing a top team or a bottom team in the competition. We're trying to just keep focusing on one game at a time and preparing well so the result will come after everything is done properly at training."
