Developing a second entry-point is being considered for CNMI's Rota

The Northern Marianas governor, Eloy Inos, has met with government officials to look into developing the East Harbour on the island of Rota.

The island's official entry point is the West harbour, but bad weather often prevents vessels from docking there.

Local officials have suggested developing the East Harbour and an independent study has been commissioned into the feasability of the idea.

Rota was recently placed under a state of emergency following a shortage of basic commodities and supplies after bad weather prevented ships from docking on Rota.
