Court assessors in Fiji are today expected to make a decision on charges faced by the Fiji Labour Party leader and former prime minister, Mahendra Chaudhry.
He has been facing charges with 3 breaches of the Exchange Control Act in the High Court in Suva.
The website Fiji Live had reported that the state counsel arguing Mr Chaudhry, as a former Minister of Finance, must have been aware of the laws he was bound by with regards to keeping foreign currency.
After the state called just one witness, a Reserve Bank official, Mr Chaudhry's lawyer asserted there was insufficient evidence to support the charges.
