Officer accused of assaulting wife returned to Niue police force

3:06 pm on 14 April 2014

It's been revealed a policeman on Niue who allegedly assaulted his wife was allowed to return to work last year following an investigation.

The chief of police Tony Kose says the officer was suspended, and the police provided a report to the Public Service Commission, who made the decision that the man could go back to work.

The chairperson of the PSC, Gina Tukiuha, has refused to answer questions about what sanctions, if any, the man faced.

Niue police are currently running a Stop the Violence Campaign.
