The Northern Marianas government has until Monday to attract an investor willing to spend up to 31 million US dollars to operate a casino on Saipan.
After years of debate the territory's parliament passed a law last month allowing casinos on Saipan but so far there have been no takers.
However, Governor Eloy Inos remains hopeful, as does the casino bill's main author, the House floor leader, Ralph Demapan.
Any interested investor that makes an application by April the 21st would be in the running to secure an exclusive licence to operate a casino on Saipan.
It also is required to pay a 30-million US dollar license fee by May the 5th, representing the licence fee for the first and fifth year.
