Solomon Islands is taking advice from Papua New Guinea officials on how to set up a registry of political parties.

A team of PNG officials has arrived in Honiara to help the Solomons prepare for changes aimed at creating political stability.

Reforms in PNG 12 years ago, which are overseen by the Registrar of Political Parties, Dr Alphonse Gelu, have been credited with bringing political stability to Port Moresby.

Solomon Islands now has a similar political integrity bill before Parliament and it is hoping the measure will end party-hopping and the frequency of votes of no confidence.

The team's costs are being met by the PNG Government.
