Sport: Northern Ireland make winning start Tri Series

8:19 am on 8 May 2014

Northern Ireland have opened their netball tri series campaign with an emphatic 65-42 victory over Papua New Guinea in Suva on Wednesday.

It's the second straight loss for the PNG Pepes, who will have another chance to get off the mark against Tonga on Thursday,

Hosts Fiji are also back on court against Northern Ireland and coach Julie Hoornweg is looking forward to seeing how her side fares against an alternative approach.

"Different bodies, different style of netball so that will be good and that's what you get at international level when you go to a World Championship: one day one style [and] the next something totally different so that will be really good for our girls. They seem quite tall so that's going to be a challenge for us".

Meanwhile Fiji A recorded their second win over Tonga in last nights curtain-raiser.
