Wellington medics to help in Solomons

2:12 pm on 8 May 2014

Two Wellington paramedics are going to Solomon Islands, to train medics and provide much needed equipment.

The Wellington Free ambulance staff, Vanessa Simpson and Benjamin Wylie-Cheer, leave for Gizo in Western Province next Monday, where they will spend 10 days.

Ms Simpson says the trip will enable them to provide clinical expertise to help the staff in Gizo maintain and sustain a high level of first response medic care.

The pair will offer a refresher medic training course and also take some basic medical supplies as well as an automatic electronic defibrilator.
