Call in PNG for caution over windfall expectations

4:21 pm on 8 May 2014

The Post Courier quotes the Governor of the BPNG, Loi Bakani, saying initial export receipts may be minimal and a windfall revenue and any associated appreciation of the kina might not materialise in the near term.

Mr Bakani says with the completion of the construction phase of the project, the Government should utilise the labour and capital that are released.

He also advocates developing the agriculture sector and investing in vital infrastructure projects in order to enhance the productive capacity of the economy.
