New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully says there are no plans to suspend aid to Nauru's justice sector.
An opposition MP in Nauru, Kieren Keke, has called for bigger neighbours like Australia and New Zealand and the regional body, the Pacific Islands Forum, to step in over poor governance and rule of law in Nauru.
Earlier Nauru's chief justice called for New Zealand to reconsider its assistance to Nauru.
But following talks with Nauru's Justice Minister, David Adeang, in February, Mr McCully said the situation was improving and cutting New Zealand funding would be too harsh.
New Zealand is the largest donor to Nauru's justice sector.
