Fiji's Sodelpa unaware of pay claim flyer

Fiji's Social Democratic Liberal Party says it did not release a flyer making claims about the Prime Minister's salary and it has no evidence it exists.

Rear Admiral Frank Bainimarama claimed an unnamed political party released the flyer stating that he earned nearly one million US dollars a year.

He is being criticised by the Labour Party which has attacked the Prime Minister for keeping his salary and those of his ministers a secret since 2010.

The leader of Sodelpa, Ro Teimumu Kepa, says if the flyer exists her party doesn't know anything about it.

"He's saying there is such a flyer but I haven't seen that flyer. So, I wouldn't know who has the flyer and where it's coming from, and what part of the country it's being distributed in."

Ro Teimumu Kepa agrees with the Labour Party that the regime should be more transparent about salaries.

Rear Admiral Bainimarama has said he will release those details when the Fiji First Party is registered.
