A Hong Kong company has presented its plan for a 2-billion US dollar integrated casino resort and theme park in the Northern Marianas.

The Lottery Commission reconsidered its earlier decision to reject Marianas Stars Entertainment's application for the licence, on the condition it presented its business plan and desposited 30 million US dollars.

Our correspondent, Mark Rabago, says the company made the deposit two days before the deadline, and presented its plan yesterday as required.

"They are planning for a 2020 grand opening for their resort. It would cost 2 billion dollars, the integrated casino resort, and they are using the theme "legend of the ocean", that would include some hotels, a casino and a theme park."

Mark Rabago says Marianas Stars Entertainment now joins Best Sunshine International in vying for the exclusive licence to develop a casino on Saipan.

He says Best Sunshine's chief operating officer, Terence Tay, has hinted it may sue following Marianas Star Entertainment's reinstatement.

The Lottery Commission has until June to decide who will get the licence.
