Key players behind Solomons unrest still free

The head of the Solomon Islands police says they are yet to make any arrests of key players behind recent rioting and looting in east Honiara.

The Solomon Star reports the Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga as saying that while no initiators of the unrest have yet been arrested, investigations are continuing.

Ms Matanga says so far 22 suspects have been arrested and charged, six of whom have been released on bail.

She says those arrested are of age 16 - 45 years and are mostly male.

Among those charged are four suspects on larceny and others on arson, criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly.
