Nauru declares more refugees

5:06 pm on 30 May 2014

The Nauru Government says another 18 inmates in the Australian asylum seeker camps have been declared refugees, joining 23 people given this status a week ago.

Five others lost their bids for refugee status.

The refugees include four family groups and four single adult men - from Pakistan, Iran and Myanmar, and one family is stateless.

The families have moved out of the camps into a temporary lodge, Anibare - the same site as the families that moved last week.

The single men are in a facility adjacent to the detention camps.
