Sport: Tongan PM keen to host All Blacks

The Tongan prime minister Lord Tu'ivakano has jumped on the All Blacks bandwagon, saying his country would also be keen to host them.

New Zealand's prime minister, John Key, has announced New Zealand will spend around $1.7 US million dollars on an upgrade of Tonga's national stadium before the 2019 Pacific Games.

The improvements to Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku'alofa will also allow the Tongan rugby team to play tests at home for the first time in a decade.

Thanking New Zealand for its support, Lord Tu'ivakano, yesterday joined Samoa in inviting the All Blacks.

"Maybe when the Teufaiva ground is finished maybe they can invite the All Blacks to play the 'Ikale Tahi so I think it will be a very good promotion but otherwise maybe they would provide some more Tongans for the All Blacks.'
