Niue acknowledges NZ help

Niue's premier Toke Talagi says New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key has played a key part in helping the country develop their economy.

This follows an announcement made by Mr Key today that New Zealand will invest just over one million US dollars to support tourism and renewable energy in Niue.

It will continue to contribute 850,000 US dollars over five years to assist with Niue's tourism development.

Mr Key met Niue's Premier and members of the tourism sector, chamber of commerce and private sector in Niue today.

Mr Talagi spoke highly of the quality of aid New Zealand has provided over the years.

I'm very pleased that we will continue our partnership. He has been instrumental and his government has been instrumental in allowing us to meet our ambitions of building a strong economy and also building the infrastructure that we need to ensure that in fact that economy will continue to grow,
