The week-long workshop run by the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre is the fourth in a series of five.

The centre's training co-ordinator, Shamima Ali, says it's already making a positive difference in the community.

"Already there has been an improvement in how police are dealing with these cases; how they are doing referrals, the referral system is getting better; and they are a lot more helpful when NGOs and our centres that are working in this area are calling them for assistance, for reporting purposes and how better they are doing their investigations, and how quicker they are."

Shamima Ali says the fifth and final workshop will be later this month.
