NGO calls for unified recovery plan in SI

The head of the Solomon Islands Development Trust says the government needs to spell out its rehabilitation agenda for displaced people more clearly.

Longden Manedika says various government departments, non government organsiations and the people made homeless by April's floods all need to work together to find a common plan that will be owned by the victims.

He says there needs to be a more consistent mode of communication as the government moves towards closing the evacuation centres and repatriating the remaining one thousand people back to their provinces.

"It is not about criticising the other parties. All the parties that are now involved in the disaster process need to develop a common agenda that will be owned by the victims."
