Sport: Flying Fijian at full strength for World Cup qualifier

12:01 pm on 23 June 2014

The Flying Fijians coach John McKee says all of his top players will be available for this weekend's Rugby World Cup qualifying match against the Cook Islands in Lautoka.

The match will determine which of the two sides will progress to next year's tournament, joining England, Australia, Wales and a playoff winner in Pool A.

The test falls outside of the June window but IRB regulations state players must be released by their clubs for World Cup qualifying matches and McKee says the likes of Crusaders Super Rugby star Nemani Nadolo will be involved .

"There was some confusion early on with the June Test window, which is a compulsory release period, and the Rugby World Cup qualifier, which fell outside that, but yes it's all been clarified that, as we knew all along, Rugby World Cup qualification matches are designated release events so all our squad will be available for this week".

Fiji are overwhelming favourites to win the game but McKee says they will not be taking the Cookies lightly and are treating the match as if it were a cup final.
