In Papua New Guinea, the provincial fisheries acting director, Lawrence Kowopia, says the new fish market and facilities in Vanimo will boost the fisheries sector in West Sepik.
The sector brings over US$7,000 to US$11,000 into the province every year from local fishing.
Mr Kowopia says the fish market was established to create wealth for the people.
He told the National newspaper they need to create wealth using their marine resources including farmed fish in areas like Amanab, Imonda, Lumi, Nuku, Teleformin.
He urged recipients of the Project Development Fund, under the National Fisheries Authority, to take responsibility and go out and look for fish.
