Pacific sprint stars Banuve Tabakaucoro and Toea Wisil set new records as they defended their senior 100m titles at the Oceania Athletic Championships in Rarotonga.

The duo didn't compete in the 200m finals earlier in the week because of injury but were back to their best with Fiji's Tabakaucoro setting a new Championships record of 10.30 seconds and Papua New Guinea's Wisil 11.57.

PNG also won gold in the men's 4x400m relay, and the women's javelin and 400m hurdles.

In other results from the final day of competition, Samoa's Emanuele Tusitatino won gold in the men's hammer throw but was forced to settle for silver in the discus.

Eugene Vollmer won gold for Fiji in the men's triple jump and Sharon Firisua from Solomon Islands added the women's 10,000m title to her 5,000m crown.
