Vanuatu to strengthen transparency law

Vanuatu's prime minister says he wants to strengthen the Ombudsman's Act so that the government maintains transparency, accountability and responsibility.

Joe Natuman says the government he leads is committed to the principle of transparency.

The prime minister also says his government will ensure the Leadership Code Act is respected by all.

While the prime minister has not accused anyone of wrongdoing, our correspondent says he has sent a clear message to ministers and senior public servants to make sure they operate within the law.
