The Taiwan government has handed over new medical facilities to the Solomon Islands National Referral Hospital in Honiara.

A new dengue laboratory, a labour ward and an antenatal ward have been built with funding from the Taiwanese Aid Fund.

The Solomon Islands Minister of Health says completion of the project has addressed problems that have been ignored in the past.

Charles Sigoto says he hopes the successful completion of the project will reflect a huge improvement in clinical care at the National Referral Hospital.
