Kiribati's USP campus extension starts

2:41 pm on 16 July 2014

The Asian Development Bank says a university development scheme in Kiribati will ensure the country's young, rapidly growing population has better access to quality education and training.

This comes as the government of Kiribati, the University of the South Pacific and the ADB have held a ground-breaking ceremony today for an upgrade of Tarawa's USP campus.

The ADB's Pacific director-general, Xianbin Yao, says the Bank is delighted to be involved in helping Kiribati address future employment challenges.

The development is part of a 19 million US dollar loan package from the ADB to the USP that is under written by the Kiribati government.
