The Chief Executive Officer of American Samoa's only hospital Joseph Davis Fleming has been sacked.
A member of the Hospital Authority Board, Faimealelei Anthony Allen, has served the termination notice which is effective immediately.
Our correspondent says it's believed that the board had talked about removing Mr Fleming as CEO last month but the decision was finalised this week.
It's not known what prompted the dismissal.
Taufetee John Faumuina Jr has been appointed as interim CEO.
