Papua New Guinea Chef De Mission Emma Waiwai admits she feels sorry for Nigerian weightlifter Chika Amalaha, who was stripped of her Commonwealth Games gold medal after failing a drugs test.

A and B samples for the 16 year old were found to contain the banned substances amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide, which are both prohibited as diuretics and masking agents.

PNG's Dika Toua has since been awarded the gold medal and her total lift of 193kg recognised as a Games Record in the women's 53kg class.

Emma Waiwai is happy the right result was found.

"Initially I was upset because I believe that Dika should have won that gold but we can't complain and now that we have it we're so happy that's she has been recognised and rewarded for her achievements. I'm sorry for that young girl - she's really young. I know it's quite humiliating for her and I wouldn't want any of our athletes to be in that same position but I believe Dika came here to win that gold and for her to get it I think is a big achievement".
