Sport: PNG Hunters call for bumper crowd in home finale

The Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league team are calling for a bumper crowd to turn out for their final Queensland Cup home match of the season against the Ipswich Jets.

The Hunters are on a three match winning streak in Kokopo but are still three points behind the fifth-placed Jets, who currently fill the final playoff position.

Club CEO Brad Tassell says Saturday's game is like a grand final for the home side and they're optimistic 6,000 locals will pack out the Kalabond Stadium.

After this weekend, the Hunters round off their season with away matches against Wynumm Manly Seagulls and South's Logan Mapgies and a bye, before the start of the finals series.
