Samoa MP in court for insulting language

One of Samoa's woman MPs and a former health minister, Gatoloaifa'ana Amataga Alesana Gidlow, has pleaded not guilty to one count of issuing insulting words.

One of Samoa's woman MPs and a former health minister, Gatoloaifa'ana Amataga Alesana Gidlow, has pleaded not guilty to one count of issuing insulting words.

Gatoloaifa'ana, who is now the Associate Minister for the Ministry of Women and Social Development, has appeared

in the family court.

The complainant is a 72 year old man who is one of her relatives.

She is being represented by Papalii Li'o Ta'eu Masipa'u, who is a laywer and also an opposition MP.

Her case has been adjourned to September the 9th.

Police say they have four witnesses to support the criminal charge against her.
