The Vanuatu Government plans to acquire an apartment complex in Suva to house ni-Vanuatu students at the University of the South Pacific, who have been struggling to find ccommodation.

Negotiations have started between Vanuatu's High Commissioner to Fiji, Nikenike Vurobaravu, a Fiji property developer and the Vanuatu National Provident Fund to buy an apartment complex not far from the university.

The Daily Post Newspaper says the three parties have already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vanuatu Government as the proposed tenant.

Mr Vurobaravu says it is now up to the National Provident Fund to carry out due diligence on the the project and make an offer to the vendor.

Mr Vurobaravu says the Fund could allow the developer to build the apartment complex then sell it to the Fund or to buy the land itself and build the apartments.
