American Samoa's five-strong team competing in the Youth Olympic Games departs for Nanjing, China tomorrow night.

In a farewell gathering over the weekend for the four wresters and one track and field athlete, the governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga says it's a great and important opportunity for the local team.

He called on the team to be vigilant and work hard, and says the athletes should maintain sportsmanship at all times.

Seventeen year old sprinter Faresa Kapisi is the only athlete with international experience, having competed in track events in Australia, the Cook Islands and United States.

The trip is been paid for by the International Olympic Committee.
