The Federation as well as Reporters without Borders have called for the release of Thomas Dandois and Valentine Bourrat.

They were arrested in Wamena last week and have been transferred to Jayapura.

Police say the two had entered Indonesia on tourist visas but were working, which was illegal.

The pair face a maximum potential jail term of five years and a fine of more than 40,000 US dollars.
