The CEO of Fiji Airways, Stefan Pichler, has been named the new Chairman of Tourism Fiji.
The Attorney General and Minister of Tourism, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says Mr Pichler brings with him extensive industry experience after working in the German and Australian tourism industries.
The appointment will be for three years.
The previous CEO of the nation's carrier, David Pflieger, was also a former Chairman of Tourism Fiji.
Mr Pichler says he looks forward to stepping up the marketing effort to reach parts of the world as yet untapped by Fiji.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum told Fiji Broadcasting Corporation the appointment highlights the importance the government puts on the country's biggest revenue-earning industry.
