American Samoa Senator Soliai Tuipine says workers at the bottom of the payscale in the government are crying out for an increase in pay.

This comes after the announcement of the proposed fiscal year 2015 budget.

During the review of the Governor's office budget on Tuesday, spokesperson Vui Florence Saulo said the salaries of contract employees continue to climb but she felt for workers who are earning $US10,000 - $US15,000 a year.

These group of employees have not received a pay increase in two years.

Senator Tuipine has urged the Chief of Staff for the Governor's office, Fiu Johnny Saelua, to advise the governor to increase their pay.

He said the while the governor is raising just the salaries of directors the remainder of its workforce is struggling with the high cost of living.
