The president elect of Fiji's largest religious community, the Methodist Church, says the church must continue to search for the common good regardless of colour or creed.
Reverend Tevita Nawadra Banivanua was elected to the church's top position on Monday.
Reverend Banivanua has held other senior administrative posts with the church taking on the role of deputy general secretary in 2009.
He has reiterated the Church's non-partisan approach to politics, saying he gives his blessing to all political parties currently campaigning for election.
After the 2006 coup, Methodist Church activities and meetings were curtailed after the church's strong criticism of the military regime.
