Fiji's Ministry of Labour has paid compensation to the family of a man who went missing at sea seven years ago.

Timoci Ratoki, who was 36, worked for the Ministry of Fisheries and Forests and went missing in November of 2007.

At the time of his disappearance, he was travelling from Makogai Island to Natovi to deliver giant clams for the Ministry's re-seeding program at Dawasamu.

Mr Ratoki's wife and two children have received $13,000 in compensation.
