Workers quickly re-instated at Vanuatu resort

6:59 pm on 8 September 2014

One of Vanuatu's most exclusive hotels, Warwick Le Lagon Resort & Spa, has reversed its decision and reinstated 52 staff it had sacked just ten hours earlier.

The workers had protested that not all wage allowances had been paid.

Our correspondent says the resort's general manager, Jeremy Walsh, had terminated workers but another 100 staff members threatened to join them.

The Government and Police then stepped and after an urgent meeting with the Vanuatu National Workers Union an amicable solution was reached and the workers got their jobs back.
