College rugby star Taniela Tupou, dubbed the 'Tongan Thor' has signed with the Queensland Reds on a two year deal.

The 18 year old prop, who weighs 135kg, grew up in Tonga but joined Auckland's Sacred Heart College on a scholarship three years ago, after touring New Zealand with the Tongan Under 14s.

He became a worldwide sensation after his try-scoring feats for Auckland's Sacred Heart College went viral on YouTube and represented the Pacific Barbarians in an exhibition match against Tonga in June.

Tupou was wanted by New Zealand and Tongan rugby officials but will join the Reds for pre-season after completing his final year of school.

Two of Tupou's siblings currently live in Australia and the teenager says he grew up idolising the Wallabies and dreaming of one day representing Australia, because they had some great Tongan players.
