The United States President Barak Obama has declared a disaster exists on Guam, in the wake of Tropical Storm Halong in late July.

The Pacific News Centre reports the President has ordered federal aid to supplement Territorial and local recovery efforts in the area affected by the storm.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures on Guam.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has indicated that added designations may be made later, if the Guam government requests them upon further damage assessments.
