The authorities were responding to claims by five political parties who say they won't accept the outcome of the elections because they have evidence of a systematic effort to defraud voters.

Final results are coming in for Fiji's landmark polls but provisional results have given a landslide victory to the FijiFirst party led by the prime minister Frank Bainimarama.

The Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says the questionable boxes were excluded from the provisional count.

"There are various boxes with various types of objections and each box will be dealt with on a case by case basis. There's no general description of what the objections are. There are other boxes that will also be dealt with by the supervisor because of the same matter."

Mr Saneem has reiterated counting is continuing and a final election result is likely on Sunday.
