Solomons warned about continued measles threat

3:39 pm on 25 September 2014

Health authorities in Solomon Islands are calling on the public to ignore reports in this morning's Solomon Star newspaper that stated measles cases are on the decline.

The Director of Maternal and Child Health Dr Divi Oga Oga says the reports are misleading and may jeapordise the ongoing work to immunise the population against the disease.

"We are not in the stage of confidently making the statement at the moment. So my encouragement at the moment is we should not be relaxed at this stage. The public and all stakeholders, work closely with ministry of health to tackle this current outbreak of measles"
