Polynesian Airlines has asked the US Department of Transportation to allow them to continue flying to the American Samoa islands of Manu'a for an additional 30 days.
In late August the federal agency granted cabotage waiver to the Samoa carrier to fly between Tutuila and Manu'a.
The cabotage law prohibits foreign airlines from flying directly between two US airports.
The approval was for 30 days commencing September 1st.
Polynesian began flying the route to Manu'a on September the 5th and its service is 3 times a week.

Now it has filed a request for a 30 day extension through to the end of October.
The company says it is continuing to meet federal requirements for a grant of an emergency cabotage exemption.
