The language of Tuvalu is being celebrated this week in New Zealand in an effort to showcase Tuvaluan culture and pride.
This year's theme promotes the idea that language keeps your culture and identity afloat and encourages the community to work together.
Marama T-Pole, a New Zealand Television presenter who is European and Tuvaluan, speaks the language fluently and says it is never too late to start learning.
Yeah I wasn't brought up speaking Tuvaluan, so for me it's been a real journey of identity and I guess after getting really involved in the community, I really am blessed I guess that I can now speak to older members of our community and it's something I would really encourage other people to really embark on that journey of identity and culture.
A range of events will take place around the country involving traditional performances, language programmes and cultural cuisine.
