The Troy Polamalu Foundation has made a donation of $10,000 for the victims of the July floods and mudslide.

Polamalu, the safety end of the Pittsburgh Steelers is one of the top ranked American Samoan professional football players.

The torrential rains ended the life of a teenage girl and caused millions of dollars of damage to the territory's infrastructure as well as considerable damage to homes and land, mostly in Gataivai, Utulei, Fagatogo and Fagaalu.

In a statement, Governor Lolo Moliga expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Troy Polamalu and their foundation for the generous gift.

He says that since the presidential disaster declaration did not include individual assistance, the funds will help some of the affected families to try and restore their homes to livable conditions and address a multitude of other needs.
