Fiji says it respects the Pacific Island Forum's decision to appoint Papua New Guinea's Dame Meg Taylor as its secretary-general.
Fiji's High Commissioner to PNG, Romanu Tikotikoca, says - in a statement in Port Moresby - that the country looked forward to welcoming Dame Meg in Suva next month on her first visit.
He said he was responding to misinformation circulated in the blog sites.
This comes as the PNG newspaper, the Post Courier, reports that Fiji is set to protest against her appointment.
It says top Fiji advisors could not comment because it was a sensitive issue.
PNG's opposition leader, Belden Namah, says he will support Fiji to replace Dame Meg.
