Vanuatu's Prime Minister Joe Natuman has arrived in Vietnam's capital Hanoi for a four-day visit.

This is the first-ever State visit by a Vanuatu Prime Minister, and comes following the invitation of Vietnam's Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung.

In welcoming his vanuatu counterpart, Prime Minister Dung stressed the importance of the visit saying this marked a new milestone in the relations between Vietnam and Vanuatu.

Over the years both countries have enjoyed collaboration under the multilateral framework of the United Nations, the Non-Alignment Movement and L'Organization de la Francophonie.

At the talks both leaders agreed to increase high level exchanges and people to people contacts; and to promote trade, investment and economic opportunities through the development of a bilateral trade agreement.

They have also agreed to seek expanded cooperation to trade in raw commodities and agro products, development of agriculture and fisheries sectors, and in the aquaculture sector.
