CNMI governor in Manila for ‘routine procedure’

7:35 pm on 13 October 2014

The Northern Marianas Governor, Eloy Inos, is in a Philippines hospital for a routine procedure.

His acting press secretary, Ivan Blanco, says the 65-year-old governor left Saipan in good spirits last week and is expected back on October the 24th, in time for the CNMI Republican Party's campaign on Rota.

He says Mr Inos has been scheduled to have the minor health procedure for months but put it off because he has been too busy.

Mr Blanco says the governor has been receiving dialysis treatment three times a week.

Mr Inos' political opponents have raised his health issues in their campaigns for next month's elections.
