American Samoa's congressman, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, is to return to Pago Pago this week, ahead of next month's general election.

Eight candidates, including former governor Togiola Tulafono, are hoping to unseat Faleomavaega, who is seeking a fourteenth consecutive two-year term as the territory's Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives.

His office confirmed that Faleomavaega is scheduled to arrive in the territory on October the 17th, and will be returning to Washington D.C. a few days after the November 4th general election.

Faleomavaega's trip home to the territory will be his first since he arrived in Pago Pago in October of last year, but was immediately admitted to the hospital for observations and then medevaced to the US for treatment.

Faleomavaega recently revealed the reason he was admitted to the hospital was due to complications from exposure to 'Agent Orange' while serving in the Vietnam war.
