Two French journalists being held in the Indonesian province of Papua are to go on trial next week.

The Indonesian authorities say Thomas Dandois and Valentine Bourrat will be tried on a charge of misusing an entry visa which is punishable by up to five years in jail.

The pair who were travelling on tourist visas were arrested in early August while reporting on the separatist movement in Papua for a European television channel.

According to reports, the trial will start on Monday in the provincial capital Jayapura.
