Sport: Fiji league coach calls for more games

12:54 pm on 21 October 2014

Fiji's league Coach Rick Stone says Pacific teams need more test matches to continue the growth of the game in the region.

Stone's Bati defeated Lebanon over the weekend and PNG beat Tonga a week after competing with an Australian Prime Minister's XIII.

Samoa will take on England this weekend.

Stone says while the game is in good shape in the Pacific, more work needs to be done.

"I think with the NRL possibly and maybe some sort of island conglomerate, we need to have regular test matches, that's really important. If we can get that one that we play in May and then a little bit of a circuit of established test matches and some sort of three year schedule I think that would help the game and give players more opportunity and more exposure."
