Allegations of misconduct in office against Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister surrounding a controversial state loan are now back with the Public Prosecutor.
Peter O'Neill has been referred to the Prosecutor on three allegations involving a controversial state loan of 1.1 billion US dollars obtained from the Swiss bank UBS earlier this year.
The Government wanted the money to buy back shares in the petroleum explorer, Oil Search.
After the Ombudsman Commission initially referred the matter in August, the Prosecutor Pondros Kaluwin requested the Commission provide more evidence into the allegations of misconduct.
The Commission has reportedly confirmed that it has furnished the Prosecutor with requested evidence.
It is now in the Prosecutor's hands whether Mr O'Neill is referred to a Leadership Tribunal.
